The idea

Every business runs on a pile of small jobs that nobody was hired for: chasing the invoice, moving the delivery, answering the staff group, renewing the domain, reading the inbox. They happen at 11pm because that's when there's time. The AI you already pay for could do most of them, except it can't touch your bank, your bookings, your domains or your code, so everything ends up as copy and paste.

So we give you assistants instead of a chat window. As many as you have jobs. Each one signs into the tools its job needs, runs on your own computer, and lives at an address you can send anyone. When something needs a yes from you, it asks. Everything else just happens. You'll forget most of them exist, which is the point.

How it works

• Make an assistant and give it one job. A name, a role, a face, and the tools it needs. Books chases invoices. Front desk takes bookings and fills the roster. Web renews domains. Home keeps the family calendar.
• It runs on your computer. Your Mac, or a computer we create for you in one tap. Your logins are pushed from your phone to that computer and stay there. Our database has never held one and isn't built to.
• It comes to you. On WhatsApp, in the groups you already run the business from, or in the app. A decision, a heads-up, a receipt. Nothing else.
• Give your team an address. Claim @you, and every assistant gets hello.new/@you/name: a web chat anyone can open, an endpoint other tools and agents can call, a seat in your group chats.

Automated everything, except the decisions

Anything that touches money, a customer or a commitment stops and asks you first. Payments, messages to people outside your team, purchases and renewals, deleting things: you choose which of these need a yes, per assistant. The question arrives where you are, you answer with one word, and the assistant carries on. If you don't answer, it doesn't act, and it tells you so.

Every action is on the record. Each assistant keeps a log of what it did, when, in which tool, and whether it worked, so "it just happened" is never a mystery.

Yours, actually

A useful assistant has your bank, your bookings and your inbox in it. That is exactly why it shouldn't live in someone else's cloud. Here is what we hold and what we don't.

• Your computer runs the assistants. A machine you own, or one we rent for you that only you hold the keys to.
• Your phone holds the logins. They're pushed to your computer over an encrypted channel and refreshed there. They never touch our servers.
• We route, and log that we routed. hello.new carries messages to your computer and back, and keeps a receipt of who asked, which assistant, and whether it worked. That's all it holds.
• Strangers are strangers. A message from outside arrives marked as outside. Your assistant is told, every time, that it isn't talking to you.

Who can reach an assistant

Every address has one of three settings, and the default is the strict one.

• Private. Resolves for you and returns a plain 404 to everyone else. Nobody can tell it exists.
• Link. The share link carries a key. Without it, the same 404.
• Public. Anyone with the address can say hello, at a sensible number of hellos per hour, per person and per assistant.

Every address is also a tool. Your assistant can ask a supplier's assistant a question by handle, get an answer back, and carry on with the job, with neither of you in the loop. Two computers that each belong to somebody, which is a better shape than a shared brain in a data centre. If you already run an agent elsewhere, point it at the endpoint and it's in.

What it costs

You sign in with the Claude or ChatGPT subscription you already have, on your own computer. While we're in beta it is free, on your Mac or on a computer we create for you. We don't meter tokens, because we never see them.

When it doesn't work

Assistants run on real computers, and real computers get closed, unplugged and taken on holiday. If nobody's home you'll be told so plainly rather than left watching a spinner. Try again later; it's usually back.

Where this is going

Next: a public directory of assistants, shared addresses for teams like @yourcafe/bookings, an email address per assistant, and an official WhatsApp channel. Not next: anything that involves us holding your keys.
